Join The Movement

The Start of the Story…

It was a cold but sunny January 2020 morning. I was walking down The Promenade in a small Swiss village called Davos Klosters. It was the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF). I had two feelings I was experiencing. One was inspiration from hearing changemakers talk about how we need to come together to create a more sustainable and inclusive world. The WEF had announced their manifesto to reskill and upskill 1 billion people and plant 1 trillion trees by 2030. Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella had shared his intent for Microsoft to be carbon negative by 2030. It was the start of a decade, and in the cold air, there was optimism to create a better future. The other feeling I was experiencing was in the pit of my stomach. It was a bit of an uncomfortable nudge that said: “And what are you doing?”

So, I decided to create a personal manifesto in January: to help one million people grow themselves to be leaders who were going to be a force for good. It felt a bit scary to take on a goal like this but also inspiring.

The Middle of the Story…

Fast forward a few months. The pandemic has disrupted our lives. For a few weeks, I forgot about this manifesto until I got my bearings, and a friend reminded me: what about that manifesto? What does my personal manifesto look like now? I accelerated the launch of my book Wired for Disruption because I wanted to share tools that we can each use to thrive, not just survive. And I need your help to share these tools with the world.

I don’t pretend to know what’s important to you. Each of us finds meaning in our own way. What I ask is for you to answer for yourself:

Looking back months from now, when these times are behind us, what contribution would I have made that I would be proud of?

And if some of your answer is about learning and growing yourself and others, I ask you to join me and lend a hand. I want to help each of us be connected to a purpose that matters to us and be an empowered agent of positive change in our workplace and world. It’s about each of us being an agile force for good in times of disruption. Disruptions are times of disproportionate impact because change is happening, and leaders step in to shape an emerging future that is better.

I believe we are each much more powerful when we come together in a common purpose that matters to each of us.
